Jeska Clark

Guide & Operations Manager

Jeska is the Operations Manager and a guide with Rare Earth Adventures, bringing together a background in outdoor leadership, human performance, expedition operations, and search and rescue. She is especially interested in how people make decisions, work together, and build confidence in challenging environments.Her outdoor experience includes backpacking, mountaineering, expedition travel, and technical field operations across a range of environments. Jeska also serves with Deschutes County Search and Rescue, where she supports medical and drone operations and continues developing her skills in backcountry response and team-based problem solving.As both a guide and Operations Manager, Jeska enjoys creating experiences that are organized, welcoming, and challenging in the right ways. What she loves most about guiding is watching people become more comfortable outside—whether that means carrying a backpack for the first time, learning a new backcountry skill, or realizing they are capable of more than they expected.Behind the scenes, Jeska helps coordinate guides, logistics, trip preparation, and the systems that keep Rare Earth Adventures running smoothly.She lives in Bend, Oregon, with her husband and their dog, and spends her free time hiking, backpacking, running, traveling, and looking for her next adventure.

Kaylee Lettau

Guide

Experience
Kaylee’s backcountry experience started as an infant in a pack being carried through the woods of the midwest. As she grew, her love for the outdoors blossomed! She became a scout as soon as she was old enough and earned every badge there was. Kaylee spent every summer outdoors at camp learning to identify plants, read terrain, and start fires with flint and steel. When she was old enough to lead, she guided at camps and eventually started her outdoor career while in college as the educational program guide at a local state park. Over the last 20 years Kaylee has guided and instructed people of all ages in both front country and backcountry settings all over the US.

​Over the last 6 years, while she has been PNW-based Kaylee has thru-hiked the Timberline, Wonderland, Oregon Coast, Arizona, and Pacific Crest Trail. She has spent a considerable amount of time educating amazing humans on how to recreate outdoors while doing the least amount of harm and has spent countless hours volunteering for Citizen Science Initiatives & the PCTA.

Alex Beck

Climb for Hope Liaison and Guide

Alex has spent much of his adult life drawn to challenging environments and adventures that demand preparation, sound judgment, teamwork, and grit. His outdoor experience has been shaped by years of working, training, and recreating in settings where technical skill and good decision-making matter.

Before settling in Bend, Oregon, Alex spent several years in Central America working as a PADI SCUBA Instructor, teaching and guiding people from a wide range of backgrounds. Today, he is heavily involved with Deschutes County Search and Rescue, serving on the Mountain Rescue, Swiftwater, Medical, and Dive teams, with a particular interest in technical rescue and rope systems.

Alex is especially drawn to adventures that combine a physical challenge with a meaningful objective, whether that means alpine climbing, remote backcountry travel, technical rescue training, or exploring places that take a little extra effort to reach.

What Alex enjoys most about guiding is helping people feel more confident and capable in wild places. He believes some of the best outdoor experiences come from learning to work as a team, adapting when conditions change, and discovering what you’re capable of along the way.

Alex lives in Bend, Oregon, where he continues to spend as much time as possible climbing, training, exploring the backcountry, and working with Search and Rescue.

Hannah Matranga

Guide

Hannah has been working in the outdoor industry through various outlets off and on for nearly a decade. Her origins are in outdoor education and wilderness therapy, from which she expanded into more technical guiding. She now guides a variety of activities, with her main passions being snowboarding and splitboarding as well as mountaineering and whitewater. Outside of Rare Earth Adventures, Hannah also guides and teaches mountaineering and ski mountaineering courses on a variety of different mountains in Washington and Mt Shasta in California, guides cat skiing in Oregon, and is in the process of becoming an avalanche education instructor as well. She is extremely passionate about increasing accessibility to outdoor sports for everyone, particularly women and other underrepresented gender identities, and helping to break down financial and cultural barriers.

Rebecca Roehm

Guide

Hometown: Urbana, Ohio

Experience
In 2012, Rebecca moved to Oregon with her husband to pursue graduate school, and soon found herself interning for Rare Earth Adventures despite having no prior outdoor experience. Since then her passion for the outdoors has flourished, and she has gained extensive knowledge in wilderness safety and adventure guiding. Today, she leads moonlight snowshoe tours, shuttles hikers to and from the PCT, and is ready to step into other outdoor roles when needed. Outside of work, she spends much of her time hiking and running on the trails, co-leading the Trail Sisters Portland trail running group. The wilderness has become both her classroom and sanctuary, deeply influencing her life and work.

Henry Heyman

Guide

Experience
Henry has lived a life full of outdoor adventure including; traveling the globe with a whitewater kayaking high school, skiing and mountaineering across Colorado and the PNW, backpacking through the jungles of Central America, and chasing the surf at whatever beach is closest. Professional experience includes 7+ years of guiding, including 4 years of backcountry ski and mountaineering guiding, 2 seasons of ski patrolling, 1 year as an REI Outdoor School guide, multiple years of raft guiding and kayak instruction, and a year spent developing and running his own adventure outfitting service in Panama.

​Delaney Daugherty

Guide

Delaney is an Oregon native and currently resides in Portland, OR. After some years of traveling the US, working various jobs whitewater river guiding, bicycle tour guiding, trail building, and ski tuning, she returned to her stomping grounds in the Colombia River Gorge. These days she spends her summers hiking through the back country, and winters skiing the slopes. She offers years of outdoor leadership, teaching in land stewardship principles, and an eagerness to connect with others while endeavoring in worthwhile challenges.

Colt Peeters

Guide

Experience
At 20 years old, Colt made a move out of the midwest to a small town outside of Rocky Mountain National Park where he met his first true love, the mountains. The ensuing summer was spent summiting 14ers and backpacking through the many wilderness areas Colorado has to offer. It was there in Colorado that the stoke-chaser in him was ignited. In the following years, he jumped from Colorado to Wyoming to Utah, finding the next big wall to send or the next big mountain summit to stand upon. In 2021, Colt made a move out to Bend, OR to become a wilderness therapy guide. He worked closely with struggling youth and young adults, facilitating backcountry activities and behaviors to improve quality of life.

​He now finds himself in Portland, OR working at Cotopaxi and spending most of his free time up in the mountains, reading, and developing new adventures and routes for Rare Earth Adventures.

Ryan Butler

Guide

Hometown: Portland, Oregon

Experience
​Ryan developed an early love for the mountains of the American West. He has guided in various parts of the country, ran a hostel in Grand Teton NP, and did anything else that would keep him close to mountains and rivers.

Miles Wedemeyer

Guide

Experience
Miles (He/Him) has been backpacking and rock climbing for 5 years. He has guided with Rare Earth Adventures for the past two seasons and volunteers with the nonprofit group, CULT Climbing, in Southern California doing education and outreach for new climbers. He is a Wilderness First Responder with aspirations to join Yosemite Search and Rescue.

Over the summer of 2024 he crushed over 1000 miles on the PCT and ticked off a bunch of alpine peaks along the way. Miles has a deep sense of connection to nature when hiking with others. He thrives when his adventuring partners push their group to the limit. He loves teaching, sharing, & learning about ecology, sustainability, your favorite place to hike, anything climbing, weird music, or bread recipes.

Imara White (he/they)

Guide

With over a decade of leadership in environmental education and outdoor recreation, Imara specializes in guiding transformative wilderness experiences through rock climbing, river guiding, and backpacking. His career includes work with the Audubon Society, as well as extensive experience facilitating programs for youth and U.S. combat veterans through Outward Bound California and other leading organizations.

Grounded in a multidisciplinary academic background, Imara holds degrees in Anthropology, Philosophy, and Spanish, with a minor in Politics from Massachusetts. He brings a thoughtful, community-minded approach to outdoor facilitation. Growing up as one of 22 siblings helped shape his lifelong commitment to caring for others and creating environments where people can challenge themselves safely while still having fun.

Originally from Bloomington, Illinois, and raised in Cranston, Rhode Island, Imara is now based in California, splitting his time between the San Francisco Bay Area and Los Angeles. Whether leading an expedition or exploring on his own, he is passionate about bringing people together outdoors—whether through cooking creative backcountry meals, identifying local plant life, hosting engaging games, or diving into meaningful conversations around the campfire.
