WFR

A 80+ hour course that is normally conducted within 9-10 days. This course is designed for back-country professionals, guides, expedition team-members, outdoor educators or individuals who take extended personal back-country trips. The curriculum will address wilderness, urban and extended-care situations. This course is physically and mentally demanding as you will be challenged to think out-of-the-box and carry heavy loads for extended periods of time. You will learn wilderness medicine by being actively involved in scenario-based training, case studies, and “out-of-the-box challenges that will enhance your decision-making abilities. Our instructional sequence and “real-world” experience combined with WMTC curriculum make this course a very dynamic, energetic and intense course. Although the course content may seem similar to the WFA and WAFA; the WFR is a designed to cover these topics more extensively with an in-depth look at the medical standards, knowledge, skills and abilities. Successful completion awards the participant a WFR certification that lasts three years.
