Come and see the best of Tanzania!
Climb 19,340’ Mt. Kilimanjaro; go on safari in Tarangire, Ngorongoro, and Serengeti National Parks; and tour, dive, or just hang at the beach on the paradise island of Zanzibar. The full trip with all three segments is 24 days, but you can leave after the climb or the safari, or join us in Moshi for the safari and Zanzibar after we return from the climb.
Our nine-day climb via the spectacular Machame Route will provide us the opportunity to experience the full range of amazing terrain and scenery as we trek around Kilimanjaro, as well as provide appropriate acclimatization time for a successful summit day. Our Tanzanian guides and porters will fully support our group, while we trek carrying daypacks. Our experienced Rare Earth Adventures group leader will ensure that the trip goes smoothly.
Comprehensive information regarding to medical requirements, equipment list, and pre-trip preparations will provided upon receipt of the trip deposit. We have done this trip several times and have close personal relationships with all of our local providers. Land costs. Includes all meals on Climb and Safari; Tents, Guides, porters, permits and Park entry fees; all transportation including flight from Serengeti to Zanzibar and boat from Zanzibar to Dar es Salaam. Does not include airfare to/from Tanzania and some meals in Moshi and Zanzibar.
Prices are based on at least six participants.
Deposit of $500 is required by March with balance due May.
ITINERARY
Day 1: Arrive Kilimanjaro International, Tanzania
Day 2: Overnight in Moshi, Tanzania
Day 3: Begin Kilimanjaro Climb at Machame Gate (5,910′). First camp at Machame Hut (9,845′)
Day 4: Machame Hut to Shira Hut (12,470′)+ Rest day
Day 5: Shira Hut to Lava Tower Hut (14,760′)
Day 6: Lava Tower to Barranco Hut (12,800′)
Day 7: Barranco to Karanga Valley (13,450′)
Day 8: Karanga to Barafu Hut (15,095′)
Day 9: Summit Uhuru Peak (19,345′) and descend to Mweka Hut (10,170′)
Day 10: Descend to Mweka Gate (4,925′) and overnight at Moshi.
Day 11: Rest Day-Moshi
Day 12: Safari at Tarangire Game Reserve, stay at Gibb’s Farm
Day 13: Hiking and relaxing at Gibb’s Farm
Day 14: Safari in Ngorongoro Crater and stay at Ngorongoro Wildlife Lodge
Day 15: Safari at Serengeti and stay at Seronera Game Lodge. Stop enroute at a Maasai Village and the Olduvai Gorge Archaeological site.
Day 16: Safari at Serengeti and stay at Seronera Wildlife Lodge
Day 17: Fly to Zanzibar and stay in Tempo House Hotel, Stone Town.
Day 18: AM-City tour. PM-Leisure. Overnight Tembo House.
Day 19: AM-Transfer to Ras Nungwi Beach Resort on northeast tip of Zanzibar Island with spice tour enroute. Overnight at Ras Nungwi
Day 20: Diving or Leisure. Ras Nungwi Beach Resort
Day 21: Diving or Leisure. Ras Nungwi Beach Resort
Day 22: Transfer to harbor. Take boat to Dar es Salaam. Transfer to Dar airport with stopover for dinner. Depart Home.
