Rare Earth Adventures (REA) was founded in 2006 and is based in Portland, Oregon. We are a fully-insured and bonded registered Oregon Outfitter/Guide company and a member of the Oregon Guides and Packers Association. Having explored the Pacific Northwest for over 30 years, we love this country and there is nothing we enjoy more than sharing this incredible landscape with you. We provide you with fun, rare, and experiential outdoor adventures.
Rare Earth Adventures is truly your Pacific Northwest adventure specialist providing over 500 adventure itineraries throughout the year. We currently offer hiking trips in the local Portland area, the Columbia River Gorge and the Oregon Coast. We are permitted through the United States Forest Service to take you to the summit of Mount Saint Helens, Mount Adams, Mount Thielsen, Mount Margaret, and Mount Bailey. Additionally, we are also permitted for various outdoor adventure activities on Mt. St. Helens, Mt. Hood, Indian Heaven and Goat Rocks Wilderness, the Columbia River Gorge, Crater Lake National Park, the Northern Oregon Coast, Olympic Peninsula, and the North Cascades.
Besides being your adventure specialist for the Pacific Northwest, we also provide itineraries for your international adventure desires. Our itineraries include trips to Ecuador, Kenya, Mexico, Nepal, Nicaragua, Peru, Russia, Tanzania, and Tibet.
We offer single to multi-day trips year-round that include cultural tours, trekking (backpacking), day-hikes, rock-climbing, ice-climbing, mountaineering, caving, and mountain-biking.
REA guide are practicing professionals in each of their discipline and take their job seriously. Your guides are trained and maintain professional certifications in: environmental sustainability, leadership, risk management, wilderness medicine, educational strategies, logistics and planning, and outdoor living techniques.
