Mt. Hood Snowshoe Field Report by guide Mitch Luce
Rare Earth Adventures
Armageddon Day Field Report
Date: 21 December 2012
Location: Trillium Lake, Mount Hood, Oregon
Adventure: Snowshoe day trip
Guide: Mitch Luce
Update: All is good in the hood….Mount Hood that is! Six adventurers lead by Guide, Mitch Luce travelled to Trillium Lake to check the status of the south flank of Mount Hood. Although the group did not encounter total destruction and mass mayhem as predicted by the Mayan calendar, they did however enjoy a brisk snowshoe through the wilds of the Mount Hood National Forest. Some of the adventures spiced up the hike by leaping head first into the large snow banks left by the most recent winter storm in preparation for the ensuing armageddon, while others took a different approach and enjoyed some wine provided by Buddha Kat winery to ease their woes about the world ending. No matter which approach to the day that each adventurer took the trip was enjoyed by all. To stay true to the end of the world theme for the day there was an apocalyptic snow ball fight pitting guide vs. 2 ten year old boys. It is safe to report that the Mount Hood area survived the end of the world is ready for more adventurous participants to enjoy its beauty.
